Compared to book one, the build up was slower. Not necessarily a bad thing. The tension is awkward and palpable at times which helps immerse you. Declan and Addie (our MMC and FMC from book 1) return for brief appearances. Turns out our FMC in this one relates a lot to Addie and they become good friends.
It is easy to hate the FMC because book one gave us slight inklings at the MMC's journey getting over her. It was ugly and painful. Now, she returns for a brief trip and has the audacity to judge him for his absence which is all a response to her popping back in. Girl, read the room!
