A love tale that was centered on the exploration of a second chance premise and an intense family conflict and drama. Never Never was plotted more to a mystery narrative rather than being a YA romance for me, having 3 parts that were told in 2 alternating perspectives of Charlie and Silas with their 48 hours memories running in a loop; each part was set on the aftermath of Charlie and Silas to waking up and forgetting their past lives.

Intriguing backstories and characters exposition although I don’t fancy the plot execution that much; fast pacing yet the progress was too underwhelming for me. I understand how it was plotted through a life reset to both Charlie and Silas due to their unexplained condition of amnesia; of trust and destiny, and that question of sincerity and acceptance but at times it felt stagnant and too tedious. The characterization was a love-hate as both Charlie and Silas were still in high school so their immature impetuous sides were expected. Not favouring much on their dynamics (acceptable lack of chemistry because of the storyline) but love their exploration of emotional rants and those anxieties they felt which I find quite engrossingly crafted.

The ending was a bit let down with a hectic part 3 (Charlie unnecessary laughing at everything really irked me) and no proper explanation to their surreal incident. Twisty yet unappealingly structured mystery that I think can be plotted better (was it the co-writing tangling and messing up the story arc and its storytelling?). Would still recommending this if you’re a fan to YA romance as the relationship part can be heart-swooning sometimes; the bickerings and those pull and push moments despite them having to not remembering each other. 2.5 stars to this!

Thank you Times Reads for the gifted review copy!",2,"rv-01kr829p4fyg9nwq5gr5xvznt3",[],"2026-05-10T04:28:30.000000Z
"https://api.seekquel.app/api/works/01kjx7471pts2rzh4008ew96pf/reviews",20]
