You might not believe it by reading the book, but the MC was in foster care. Jk. This is mentioned repeatedly. I personally think that she needs more therapy. I also thought it was weird that when she went to her therapist she gave a recap of everything that had happened so far. We're reading the book, we know what has happened. I felt like the mystery was a back seat to Hildy and her issues. Her childhood is constantly, and I mean constantly on her mind. She thinks and worried about it non-stop. We are also constantly reminded that she is a short thief. But it's ok since she has no memory of stealing. Ok, sure. I also did not like the big reveal to the mystery. So out of left field! I hated that there was a love triangle. And the dog that she hardly spends any time with, is trained in minutes. Sure, ok. So dumb and so mean to Bob. I have no interest in the rest of the books.
