I love fantasy and I like when it includes comedy or ridiculous situations. Most of the books I love that follow that path have a simple and concrete plot that allows you to enjoy the comedy while being immersed in the story. Unfortunately I don’t think this book achieves that.
Since it’s supposed to be “light” I don’t want to focus on worldbuilding, but I was left with a lot of doubts about the vampire community or the magic system (some people fly and others grow fruit?). I think that no matter how light and simple a story is, it has to make sense and in this book a lot of things felt random or out of place instead of being funny and silly.
I didn’t like the conflict, much less the way it was solved. These very old and wise vampires are tricked by a very stupid threat?
The characters were a little plain and I didn’t feel any chemistry between Cassie and Frederick other than the fact that she thought he’s hot and he thought she’s pretty.
My favorite parts are Frederick trying to figure out modern stuff like the internet or malls. And the cover is gorgeous <3
