Synopsis

On New Year's Day 2023, Jeremy Renner was crushed by a snowplow outside his Nevada home while trying to stop it from hitting his nephew. He broke more than thirty bones. My Next Breath is his account of that morning and of the year that followed — the injuries, the hospital, the exhausting daily arithmetic of learning to breathe, stand, and walk again.

Renner writes around the accident rather than only about it, returning to his childhood in Modesto, his family, and the habits of stubbornness and control that both got him into the situation and, he argues, got him out of it. The book is more concerned with pain, will, and the people who show up than with Hollywood.

A candid celebrity memoir about survival and rehabilitation, written in the voice of someone still in the middle of it.
