This was a really solid second-chance college hockey romance that delivered exactly what I was hoping for. Kaylee’s move to Thatcher College should’ve been a fresh start, but running right back into Tanner, the boy she didn’t choose years ago, brings all the old tension and chemistry straight to the surface. Their dynamic pulled me in immediately.
I liked how the story handled Kaylee’s growth. After realizing she chose wrong with Derek, she’s trying to rebuild her confidence and make better choices for herself, and that arc felt honest. Tanner was a pleasant surprise too, less of the arrogant hockey star she remembered and more of a steady, patient leader who clearly never stopped caring for her.
Their reconnection had the right mix of banter, vulnerability, and slow-burn build. The drama with her ex added weight without overtaking the story, and I appreciated that Kaylee kept her voice and agency throughout. The team atmosphere and hockey backdrop added just the right amount of fun.
Some moments were predictable, but the emotional payoff and character chemistry made up for it. Overall, a sweet, engaging read about trust, second chances, and finding the courage to choose differently. Perfect if you enjoy college sports romances with heart.
