I picked up My Darling Daughter expecting a psychological thriller, but what I enjoyed most was how thought-provoking it was.
J.P. Delaney tackles some difficult and controversial themes around consent, accusations, public perception, and the lasting impact they can have on people’s lives. The story explores how quickly narratives can take hold, particularly when amplified by the media, and how difficult it can be to undo the damage once judgement has already been passed.
What I appreciated most was that the book didn’t offer easy answers. Instead, it asks readers to consider the grey areas and complexities surrounding these issues, leaving plenty to think about long after the final page.
The pacing kept me engaged throughout, and while this isn’t a thriller packed with shocking twists, it held my attention from beginning to end. A compelling and thought-provoking read.
