Synopsis
In Universal Century 0079, the Earth Federation is testing an experimental mobile suit, the RX-78 Gundam, aboard a space colony before it can be transported to Federation command in Jaburo. Before the transport can happen, Zeon forces attack the colony. Caught in the crossfire, a civilian teenager named Amuro Ray flees into the cockpit of a nearby mobile suit — the Gundam — with no training and no idea what he is doing.
This first volume of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's manga retelling of the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime covers the opening battle for Side 7 and Amuro's first, desperate stand against an experienced Zeon assault team. The edition includes an introductory essay by Hideaki Anno.
