Synopsis

Cassie Klein skips her college's Family Weekend for a night at an off campus bar, and a stranger buying her a drink turns into an unplanned one-night stand. The next morning her best friend drags her to breakfast to meet her mother. The mother is the woman from the bar.

Erin Bennett came to campus to spend the weekend with her daughter, not to sleep with one of her friends. She had no idea Cassie was a student when they met, and finding out does not end things the way it should. The two keep finding reasons to see each other again, and a single mistake becomes a pattern neither can explain to anyone else.

The secret gets harder to keep the longer it runs. Erin is newly divorced and unsure what she is allowed to want at this point in her life. Cassie is unsure what she is doing with a woman twice her age who happens to be her best friend's mother. Neither of them planned on this turning into something real.

It is a sapphic, age-gap romance that opens on a taboo setup and plays much of it for comedy. The stakes stay real underneath: a marriage that just ended, a friendship that could end too, a family that has not been told. The heat arrives early and keeps returning, alongside real feelings the story never rushes past.
