Synopsis

Sophronia "Sophie" Lattimore, a 28-year-old spinster resigned to chaperoning her cousin through the Bath social season, sends an anonymous letter that quietly prevents a poor marriage proposal. When her authorship is discovered, she is suddenly in demand as a matchmaker for everyone she knows. Sir Edmund Winslow, the most eligible bachelor in Bath, asks for her help finding a wife — but as Sophie coaches him toward someone else, she realizes she wants him for herself. Complications multiply when her former beau reappears and shows romantic interest of his own, leaving Sophie unsure whether she is headed for heartbreak or the altar. A witty, Austen-inflected Regency comedy of manners from the author of Mr. Malcolm's List.
