Synopsis

Cressida Parris, an innocent young woman, finds her world upended after her mother's death and the sale of her family estate. Her summer love, Robert Glenford, returns to England seemingly to spurn her, flaunting a new romance with a charming widow. Separated by societal intrigue and deceit, Cressida takes a job as a housemaid while Robert navigates high society. They meet again in a lonely winter, and Robert must prove his enduring love for Cressida to rekindle their lost passion.
