Synopsis

Matilda's life takes an unexpected turn when her father's illness forces the family into reduced circumstances. To support them, she becomes a receptionist for Dr. Henry Lovell, a man she finds herself drawn to despite his engagement to another. As Matilda tries to ignore her feelings, Henry finds himself increasingly intrigued by her, even as his fiancée pushes for a life in London he doesn't want. Will Matilda find her white wedding dream, or is fate leading her down a different path?

She said she had a blissfully happy childhood and teenage years, which stood her in good stead for the tribulations to come with the Second World War.
