Maisie Dobbs

Maisie Dobbs started as a housemaid but her sharp mind and the kindness of her employers paved the way for her to attend Cambridge. World War I interrupted her studies, sending her to the front as a nurse where she learned about the hidden truths behind life's coincidences. After the war, Maisie becomes a private investigator, and her first case, which appears to be a simple infidelity investigation, quickly pulls her into a dark mystery that forces her to confront the trauma of the war and a lost love.
