Synopsis

For too long, the history of war has been told exclusively through the voices of men. This groundbreaking book by Svetlana Alexievich uncovers the hidden stories of the nearly one million Soviet women who fought on the front lines during World War II. It asks why their experiences, sacrifices, and emotions have been silenced, offering a vital and long-overdue account of their war.
