Synopsis

Jane McCaffrey left her hometown at eighteen, carrying a secret about her family and about the boy she loved and left behind without explanation. Ten years later, her father's death brings her home to help her mother clear out the house, and to face Nik — her first love, now the town's doctor, who never stopped wondering why she disappeared.

As old feelings resurface, Jane is hiding something new: a fresh bruise on her cheek and an abusive relationship she is quietly trying to escape. Rebuilding what she and Nik once had means risking the truth coming out before she is ready, and reckoning with the cycle of harm that shaped her family in the first place.

A contemporary romance for readers of Colleen Hoover and Paige Toon, "Love and Other Lost Things" pairs a heart-wrenching setup with a hopeful, second-chance ending, addressing domestic abuse and generational trauma alongside its central love story.
