Synopsis

Hazel Stillman, born with a clubbed foot and long ago sent away by her family, has devoted herself to scholarship and teaching, believing marriage was never meant for her. Duncan Penhale, an autistic cousin who values order above all else, is equally uninterested in marriage — until a tempting inheritance offer forces him to reconsider his future.
