“It was so easy, she thought with some disdain, to find out about people. It was all out there, everything about them. You just had to look. You could figure out anything about a person if you just tried hard enough.”
In the perfect little town of Shaker Heights, with the perfect little houses and their perfectly mowed lawns, lives the perfect family, The Richardson’s.
Elena Richardson lives with her husband and four children. She is all about following the rules. Marriage, house, babies, career, and doesn’t agree with disrupt.
With her second house that she leases out, she meets Mia and her daughter Pearl. An artist whilst also balancing random jobs to keep afloat and not much for materialistic things, Mia isn’t your conventional Shaker Heights resident.
Pearl, the daughter, becomes close and also quite fascinated with the Richardson children. She spends most of her time in their house which Mia finds unsettling. When a custody battle erupts between a close friend of Elena’s, Mia gets involved. It is then that Elena decides to unearth Mia’s mysterious past, but what she finds could hurt more than just Mia.
Holy Moly I LOVED THIS BOOK. It’s quite honestly the best book I’ve read this year and I cannot wait to watch it tomorrow! It explores this crazy, mind bending dilemma that will have you thinking for days!
If you have it on your shelf, read it! Then come and discuss it with me! Hehe.
