Synopsis
Mary Bliss McGowan is an Atlanta wife and mother whose husband disappears under mysterious circumstances, and who then discovers he has taken all of their money with him.
To cope, and to keep a roof over her daughter's head, she tells one tiny white lie. It works, so she tells another, and the story of Mary Bliss's summer becomes the story of how far a lie will carry a woman before it turns on her.
Mary Kay Andrews's 2003 romp is set in a Southern suburban community and takes in marriage and divorce, mothers and daughters, friendship and betrayal, all with a comic Southern edge.
