Synopsis

Aaliya Saleh, a 72-year-old woman with blue hair, has always defied the expectations of Lebanese society. Each year, on January 1st, she begins translating a work by one of her favorite authors, finding refuge and joy in literature amidst her apartment filled with books and papers. As she walks the streets of Beirut, Aaliya reflects on her past, remembering her bookstore, conversations with friends, and the city's tumultuous history. This novel is a vibrant declaration of love for literature, set against the beautiful and distressed backdrop of Beirut.
