Alex Michaelides is a British Cypriot author and screenwriter, born in Cyprus in 1977 to a Greek Cypriot father and an English mother. He holds an M.A. in English Literature from Trinity College, Cambridge, and an M.A. in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute. Before writing fiction he studied psychotherapy and worked at an adolescent mental health unit, experience that shaped his debut novel.
