This gave me the exact same feeling as the first book. It isn’t really dark dark romance - it feels more like a cosy, cute romance with serial killers, some gore, and a twisted sense of humour.
Lark and Lachlan were so much fun together. Their banter carried the whole book for me, and I loved watching their relationship develop. They were genuinely sweet without losing the weirdness that makes this series so entertaining.
I was still hoping for a little more suspense, and once again the romance took centre stage over the thriller elements. A few scenes lingered longer than they needed to, but I was having such a good time that I didn’t really mind. Any less of the romance and it would have lost its magic.
If you’re going in expecting a gritty, disturbing dark romance, this probably isn’t it. But if you want something funny, cosy, a little gross, and full of lovable characters who just happen to kill people, it’s an easy recommendation.
