Synopsis

Au café Dona Dona, niché sur le mont Hakodate au nord du Japon, les clients peuvent vivre une expérience extraordinaire : voyager dans le passé, le temps d'une tasse de café. On y rencontre des âmes sincères comme Yayoi, qui en veut à ses parents défunts, Todoroki, un comédien qui se languit de son épouse, Reiko, submergée par la disparition de sa sœur, et Reiji, qui réalise trop tard son amour pour son amie d'enfance. Tous goûtent à la saveur de moments perdus et apprennent à envisager l'avenir avec plus de sérénité.

Toshikazu Kawaguchi (川口俊和) is a Japanese novelist, playwright and theatrical director, born in Osaka on 3 April 1971. He began working in theatre at 22, going on to produce, write and direct for the group Sonic Snail before founding his own company, Kawaguchi Produce. His play Before the Coffee Gets Cold won the Grand Prize at the 10th Suginami Theatre Festival in 2013; at an editor's urging he adapted it into a novel, published in Japan in 2015.
