Synopsis

In March 1998 Jakarta, student activist Biru Laut and his friends are abducted and brutally interrogated about their movement. As months pass, his family waits in vain, holding onto hope that he will return. Years later, Biru Laut's sister, Asmara Jati, joins a commission to uncover the truth behind the disappearances, while Biru Laut himself recounts his harrowing experience from a silent, watery grave. This novel explores the profound impact of political violence on families and friendships, and the enduring quest for justice.
