Synopsis

A man is found murdered in Bartonville, a small town on the Oregon coast, and the manner of his death is deliberately staged to send a message. FBI special agent Zander Wells is sent to work the case with local law enforcement, in a place where everyone has known everyone for decades and no one is inclined to talk to an outsider.

Emily Mills has lived in Bartonville all her life. Her father was murdered when she was a child, one of her sisters vanished, and the new killing drags all of it back into daylight — including the parts of her family's history she has spent twenty years not examining.

The Last Sister opens Kendra Elliot's Columbia River series, a romantic-suspense procedural in which a cold family tragedy and a present-day investigation turn out to be the same story.
