This was an interesting book. So different from what I'm used to. I hadn't realized it was so long until I checked how many pages were left since Lan was getting on my nerves. That's why my reading couldn't be higher. Lan. She was just really annoying and kinda awful and I didn't find myself rooting for her at all. Azreal was an interesting hero, though his tendency to launch into long and dramatic harangues all the time grew tiresome. But then, I think about how he's loved for hundreds or thousands of years and then you understand that his speech wouldn't match today's level of speaking.

One of my favorite scenes was when he took off his mask in front of his court to challenge Lan.
