Synopsis

In late 19th-century Paris, historian Durtal seeks to understand the supernatural, drawn into a world of satanic rituals and blasphemy. His initiation comes through the perverse wife of a prominent writer and a defrocked priest who delights in sacrilege. As Durtal descends into this dark realm, the novel explores the depths of human depravity and the enduring presence of evil.
