Additionally, it abandons the dual-timeline format of the earlier books to follow a single, linear timeline that begins immediately after the events of the second novel.
This book cannot be read as a standalone, as it is the direct conclusion to a continuous trilogy and relies heavily on the complex political and character developments established in the first two entries. Reading the previous volumes is essential to understanding the plot, character motivations, and world-building.
