Inspired by the Listers documentary (and my current amatuer birding with merlin) I picked this one up.

Certainly a fast read if you know some context. Its a comfortable catchall story that steers the reader to the greatest part of birding & away from the execrable.

I would recommend this memoir to other almost-hobbyist birders —or anyone who is an obsessive & likewise fascinated by obsession and the lengths we go to achieve the end result; for better or worse.
