Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Jimena Ramos has always considered Brooklyn home — until a rooftop party gets busted by police the night before senior year, and her mother finally admits they've been undocumented the whole time. Determined not to lose the only life she's ever known, Jimena launches "Operation Green Card," repeatedly proposing marriage to her Russian-American neighbor Vitaly Petrov, who keeps declining but offers his meticulous PowerPoint strategies and bodyguard services instead as she dates other candidates. The closer they get while chasing Jimena's plan, the harder it becomes to ignore what's actually growing between them.

Goldy Moldavsky draws on her own experience as an undocumented immigrant for a funny, heartfelt YA rom-com about home, status, and choosing real love over a safe plan.
