Just Friends

Just Friends is the third standalone entry in Madison Wright's Nashville Is Calling series, though it reads independently of the earlier books. Hazel Lane relocates to Nashville a year after being cheated on, cautiously open to dating again but wary of getting hurt.

Her best friend Alex has been content to wait for her — not as a backup plan, but because he's long suspected the person right in front of her was the one she was looking for all along. As Hazel works through her hesitation, the two edge from friendship into something more, in a slow-burn, he-falls-first romance.

The book is marketed as clean and closed-door, with no explicit content, and deliberately avoids a manufactured third-act breakup, instead letting the tension come from the two leads' friendship and timing.
