This book has really good Hallmark vibes, but I could totally see this being made into a lifetime movie (a tad too spicy for the Hallmark channel I believe). The longing for one another but never explicitly going beyond a kiss, hug, or playful grabbing. The dialogue reminded of the harlequin romance novels I used to read as a teen, but again, no spice. All yearn (thank you susannah from Plot Twist, Please for giving that feeling a name for me). It is a dual pov, but the way it is written, it has the back and forth of first person and third person pov.
The chapter were easy to get through, averaging about 6 pages. When the epilogue can capture my attention, I know the entire book is gonna be just as good. The MMC and FMC have so much chemistry from the beginning. Even as individuals, the chemistry of the characters are so relatable and likeable. I actually found myself laughing out loud at the banter between the characters, especially the MMC and his group of friends. Typical men. He is struggling with abandonment issues with his father and also PTSD from the army. Our FMC is dealing with trauma from her abusive and controlling ex that is now stalking her.
The Georgia Bulldogs references and setting being in Georgia was a huge plus for me, being a Georgia girl myself 😆.
I noticed a grammatical error on page 98- end quotation was missing after 'hillside' then open quotation begins again at the beginning of the following paragraph. "Virgin territory" was also used to describe uncharted or unexplored and I thought it was fun (maybe I haven't read enough books 😅).
Page 100- "why was he even thinking about a life with her after knowing her such a short amount of time? When you think of how much time has legitimately passed in the book, it's a bit whimsy and Hallmarky to be having feelings and thoughts of spending forever with a person you've only known for a week. BUT to be fair, I told my now husband the night we met for the first time that I loved him and I truthfully meant it. So I guess you know when you know, you know? 😂
My favorite quote is also on page 100: "God, if it's your will, I'd ask for Addie to stay. I pray you'll show me how to be a better man so I can be a good companion for her. Show me the way, Father."
