Synopsis

Sylvia, heir to the lost kingdom of Jasad, is a prisoner in a mountain refuge held by the Urabi. They believe her bloodline can return their homeland to its former power. She has spent years denying that legacy, and now a forbidden bond to Jasad's greatest enemy makes it harder to hide. So does a magic that is starting to fray her own mind.

In a rival kingdom, Arin is caught between his father's push to crush a rising rebellion and the sacred vows he swore to uphold. His search for Sylvia leads him into buried truths about his own family and about how Jasad fell in the first place.

The Urabi mean to raise the Jasadi fortress. The plan could kill Sylvia outright, or cost her the humanity she has spent so long protecting. War with her homeland is coming regardless, and she can no longer stand by while her people pay for it.

This is the second and closing volume of the Scorched Throne duology, an Egyptian-inspired epic fantasy built around court politics and a slow-burning enmity between its two leads. Sylvia spent the first book surviving. Here, she starts fighting to win.
