Synopsis

Nina Kennedy has spent her life hemmed in by fear. Planes, trains and heights all frighten her, and her irrational phobias have kept her world small. When she moves to Brooklyn to study nursing, that routine starts to break down.

Her roommate is Jake Green: pierced, tattooed, and the smartest person she has ever met. Nina is drawn to him at once and does not want to be. Under his rough look and devilish smile, Jake is kind, and he sets out to change how she sees the world.

He agrees to tutor her, and the two make a bet with high stakes attached. Jake uses it to push Nina to face the things that scare her. Neither of them plans on falling hard for the other along the way.

Jake is also keeping a large secret from Nina. When he finally reveals it, their relationship is put to the test.

This is a contemporary romance with an emotional streak, told around a roommates-to-lovers setup. It is the first book in the Jake series of standalones, followed by My Skylar and Jake Understood, and it can be read on its own.
