Irregularity

Jurassic London put this anthology together with the National Maritime Museum, to run alongside the Museum's exhibition on the quest to solve longitude at sea. The brief was the Age of Reason: the men and women who set out to chart, name and classify everything, and what happened to them and to the world they were measuring.

The contributors include Nick Harkaway, Claire North, Adam Roberts, James Smythe, Kim Curran, E.J. Swift, Tiffani Angus and Rose Biggin, and the stories run from historical fiction to the outright fantastic while staying inside the theme.

Edited by Jared Shurin, and dedicated, as the introduction says, to failure: not to the triumph of reason but to what it kept running into.
