Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Saffyre Maddox spent three years in the care of child psychologist Roan Fours. When he decides their sessions should end, she feels abandoned — and begins quietly orbiting his life, waiting outside his office and walking his neighbourhood at night, where she notices things she was never meant to see.

Cate Fours, Roan's wife, is uneasy in their new North London home; there have been reports of sexual assaults nearby, and she can't shake the sense that something is wrong close to home. Owen Pick, their thirty-three-year-old neighbour, has never had a girlfriend, has just been suspended from his job, and is being drawn into a bitter online world that gives his loneliness a dangerous shape.

On Valentine's night, Saffyre disappears, and Owen is the last person known to have seen her. Told in alternating voices — Saffyre, Cate, and Owen — Lisa Jewell's Invisible Girl is a taut psychological thriller about loneliness, trauma, assumption, and the people we render invisible.
