Synopsis

Artificial Intelligence, by Elaine Rich and Kevin Knight, is a widely used undergraduate and graduate textbook surveying the field from its foundations. Assuming no prior background, it covers problem spaces and search, heuristic techniques, knowledge representation and predicate logic, reasoning under uncertainty, game playing, planning, large knowledge-based systems, natural language processing, learning and connectionist (neural network) models. First published by McGraw-Hill in 1983, with a second edition by Rich and Knight in 1991.
