In My Dreams I Hold a Knife
Ten years after graduation, Jessica Miller is heading back to the prestigious Duquette University for her class reunion, ready to show her old friends exactly how far she has climbed. On the surface she is the success story of the East House Seven — the tight-knit group she ran with all through college. But that friendship shattered senior year, when one of their own, the beautiful and privileged Heather Shelby, was murdered, and another member of the group was blamed.
Winstead's thriller unfolds across two timelines: the glittering, competitive college years when the seven were inseparable, and the present-day reunion where old wounds and buried secrets resurface. As Jessica pushes at the gaps in her own memory of the night Heather died, it becomes clear that someone has engineered the reunion to force a reckoning — and that the truth about the killer may implicate the people she trusts most, or Jessica herself.
A propulsive dark-academia mystery about ambition, envy, and the lies we tell ourselves, narrated by a heroine who is as unsettling as she is compelling.
The narrator: a ruthlessly ambitious alumna picking at the gaps in her own memory of the night Heather died.
The wealthy, magnetic member of the East House Seven whose unsolved murder in senior year drives both timelines.
