Each Oakwood Bay book KEEPS getting better. And Friends to lovers? Always going to do it for me. ESPECIALLY because Parker definitely fell first AND harder.
Summer and Parker have been best friends since they were three. Now nearing 30, they've received decades worth of comments on why they aren't dating, something shifts in their relationship. Summer comes up with the idea that they should choose the other's partner. Which, truthfully, could have only really ended in one way. Summer, looking to redefine her life, enters a local surfing competition in hopes of making it to the tour, leaving her small town and potentially Parker behind.
Summer and Parker's chemistry is THROUGH the roof. These two have the perfect banter that borderlines friendly and flirty. The know all about one another, and when Parker turns on the charm and really leans into it, wow. Fireworks, truly. I LOVED seeing these two tumble their way from friendship to more. Parker's realization of his feelings is truly one of the best scenes in this book. And then his flirting and mouth? Yessh, I was unprepared.
Ultimately, yes this is a cute and spicy romance book - but the scenes depicting Parker's mental state and Summer's family situation had me feeling so much for these two. They both were perfect for what the other person needed in their time of hurting. I truly felt for Parker during his dark days, it was written in such a relatable way that my heart strings were TUGGING.
Thank you so much to netgalley for an earc. All thoughts are my own!
