An amazing collection of novellas.
Mr. Harrigan’s Phone started as such a wholesome story but got really creepy. It was still a beautiful story. One thing I love about King's short stories is that he doesn't feel the need to explain why some events happen, they just happen. In this case though, the story taking place somewhere close to Castle Rock is explanation enough; inexplicable events happen in that town all the time.
The Life Of Chuck was probably my favorite novella in this collection and one of my favorites ever. I know it's one of those stories I'll find myself thinking about from time to time. I loved everything about this story; the characters, the non-linear (backwards) narration, the story itself. Such a unique and beautiful novella.
If It Bleeds was good too. I like Holly a lot more now. But I think this story doesn't belong in this collection even though the collection was named after this story. Maybe it would've been better if it were published as a standalone novella as a sequel to [b:The Outsider|36124936|The Outsider|Stephen King|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1524596540l/36124936._SY75_.jpg|57566471]. Nevertheless, the story was reqlly similar to The Outsider but still a great one. Holly has come such a long way since her first appearance in [b:Mr. Mercedes|18775247|Mr. Mercedes (Bill Hodges Trilogy, #1)|Stephen King|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1468705326l/18775247._SY75_.jpg|26680281], her character development is amazing.
Rat was like [b:The Shining|11588|The Shining|Stephen King|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1353277730l/11588._SY75_.jpg|849585] meets [b:Fair Extension|22844181|Fair Extension|Stephen King|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|42402971] and it was more similar to the latter. It even takes place somewhere near Derry! Another amazing story.
