Ruby left pageant competition behind the moment she grew up, but an elderly friend's plea to enter her lazy, undisciplined Golden Retriever Wheezy in the prestigious Canine Classic pulls her right back into competitive mode. Canine Classic founder and veterinarian Spencer Wilson is openly dismissive of Wheezy's chances, so Ruby hires his identical twin brother Caleb to help train the dog and prove Spencer wrong. As Spencer watches Ruby's determination up close, his skepticism gives way to something else entirely — if the two of them can get past their own baggage long enough to let it.

Lucy Gilmore delivers a charming, low-stakes enemies-to-lovers rom-com built around a scrappy underdog and an unlikely competition.
