This was not a romance.
I know Amy Boyles books are usually fun and campy and aren't usually serious. For this one, it had some humor, but I did not believe the romance. They weren't nice to each other. On their first meeting, she was so mean to him. I mean, what did she expect when some random girl just shows up and pukes on your shoes then expects you to find the materials to clean it up?
My biggest beef was how they broke the binding. I didn't love that at all and it was not romantic. I feel like just talking things out instead of focusing on uncomfortably trying to break the binding would have made their future go so much smoother.
I also didn't like how he was not really king material. You know? He wasn't tough. Even when catching the baddie, he just did it in such a weak way. Oh and his grudge against the family was silly. I am sorry. You are a king, you had the power to confront them. It's not it happened with your ancestors. It was you the whole time.
Anywho, I didn't hate it but I didn't enjoy it. Plus, it wasn't romance.
