Synopsis

In June 1993, a small group of young people made a bizarre, low-budget horror film called Horror Movie—one camera, a skeleton crew, and a script that broke every rule. It was never released, but three surviving scenes and a handful of stills leaked online and grew into legend, feeding decades of speculation and cult obsession. Now the only living member of that original cast—the man who played the disturbing, masked 'Thin Kid'—is telling the whole story as a big-budget reboot finally moves toward cameras.

Alternating between the narrator's memories of the original shoot, where the on-set torment of the Thin Kid blurred unnervingly into the real, and his present-day return to the material thirty years later, Paul Tremblay's Horror Movie is a slippery, dread-soaked meta-horror. It's a novel about cursed media, the hunger of audiences, and the price a person pays for becoming, forever, a role.
