Synopsis

Four linked stories follow the lives of Moroccan immigrants and their families as they seek a better future in Europe — a journey that begins with a perilous crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar. Told through the eyes of two men and two women, the book traces their paths from Morocco through Spain and into France, and the choices, losses, and hope that shape their lives before and after the crossing.
