Synopsis

Hannah Bellinger has spent her adult life a step behind her more dazzling older sister. Working as a film production assistant, she strikes up an unlikely friendship with Fox Thornton, a king crab fisherman and the town's reigning charmer, after they bond over music one night in Westport, Washington. The friendship continues by text once Hannah returns to Los Angeles.

When Hannah's film starts shooting on location in Westport, she ends up crashing at Fox's apartment, and the forced closeness turns their easy friendship into something neither of them expected. Fox has built his identity around being the guy nobody takes seriously beyond his looks, and Hannah has spent years believing she's the sidekick in her own life. Getting close to each other means both have to question the story they've told about themselves.

A friends-to-lovers small-town romance about being seen for who you are rather than who everyone assumes you to be.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does this book belong to a series?

Yes — Hook, Line, and Sinker is book two of Tessa Bailey's Bellinger Sisters duology, following It Happened One Summer. This installment centers on Hannah Bellinger, the younger sister of book one's protagonist Piper, and her friends-to-lovers romance with Westport crab fisherman Fox Thornton.

  • Do I need to read It Happened One Summer first?

Not strictly — Hook, Line, and Sinker stands on its own as Hannah and Fox's story. But it follows directly on the events and setting of It Happened One Summer, and returning characters like Piper Bellinger and Brendan Taggart will mean more if you've read book one first.
