Synopsis

In 1986, twelve-year-old Eddie and his friends invent a private code: little chalk stick figures left around their English village, meant only for each other. But when the chalk men lead them to a body in the woods, torn apart and half-hidden, their game turns into something none of them can take back.

Thirty years later, Eddie is an adult trying to leave that summer behind — until an envelope arrives containing a single chalk figure. His old friends have received the same message, and what starts as an unsettling prank turns fatal when one of them is found dead. To survive, Eddie has to go back and work out what actually happened all those years ago, and who has been drawing the chalk men ever since.

Alternating between the two timelines, this is a psychological thriller about memory, guilt and the secrets a small town keeps.
