One of the very first audiobooks I tried, because I didn’t have it in me to attempt to read this book by myself. As the name suggests, this book is a wide-ranging survey that mixes intellectual history with sharp personal opinions. It is ambitious, witty, and often thought-provoking, though Russell’s strong viewpoints sometimes shape the book as much as the philosophers themselves. The result is a worldwide classic that is as entertaining as it is informative, even though the subject of philosophy in itself is very complicated.
