Heart Trouble

The fifth Callahan Garrity mystery finds Atlanta gripped by pre-Olympic frenzy. Callahan runs the House Mouse cleaning service and works as a private detective on the side, and her latest case is the shooting of Whitney Dobbs, a boozy socialite who had escaped serious consequences after a hit-and-run killed a little girl.

Whitney is shot while performing her community service, and Callahan's suspicions land on the victim's ex-husband. Working the case alongside her cleaning team, she also has her mother's health to worry about.

Originally published in 1996 by Kathy Hogan Trocheck, later reissued under her Mary Kay Andrews pen name, it is a fast, wisecracking Southern caper.
