Synopsis

Returning to the small coastal town of Peaceful Harbor as a decorated military hero, Nate Braden carries a wound no medal can heal. For as long as he can remember he has loved Jewel, the younger sister of his best friend, Rick, but their age difference and his loyalty to Rick kept those feelings buried. Now Jewel is grown, no longer the sixteen-year-old he once knew, and the pull between them is impossible to ignore. Standing in the way is the hardest truth of all: Nate and Rick enlisted together eight years earlier, and while Nate came home alive, Rick did not. Reaching for Jewel means facing the guilt of the one who survived and the memory of the friend they both lost. As old feelings resurface and grief and desire tangle together, Nate must decide whether he can let himself want the one woman he was never supposed to have, and whether Jewel can love the man who came back when her brother didn't. Their story tests how much heartbreak a fledgling love can hold, and whether healing can grow from loss.
