I didn't expect this book to leave me sobbing at the end.
I actually didn't know where this story was going, until the end.
As it's obvious from the title, this book is about the undead, the zombies. But they're not your typical horror movie zombies.
The novel starts with the dead suddenly coming back to life in Stockholm, Sweden.
Then, we follow three families dealing with their recent loss of a loved one, and a good portion of the book is focused on their grief (or lack thereof), the family dynamics, childhood trauma, and a bit of religious mania.
So this book deals with A LOT, and I wouldn't consider it a typical horror book.
If you're after a classic zombie experience, this book is not for you.
This novel was more about different types of grief and death itself. It was sad, depressing, and emotional.
