Synopsis

In this retelling of Sleeping Beauty, a princess is cursed to fall into an enchanted sleep, her castle encased in a wall of thorns. A century later, a prince arrives to break the spell, only to discover the story he's been told is not the whole truth. The legend is far more complicated, and the princess may not need saving in the way he expects.

Theodora Goss is a Hungarian-American writer of fantasy fiction and poetry who draws heavily on folklore and fairy tales. Born in Budapest in 1968, she holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in English from Boston University. Her Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club series began with The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter, and her short fiction has been a finalist for the Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy Awards.
